I thought as a perfect fit for my first blog and since this is my science class website I would write a blog about the beginning of everything. As every textbook has a beginning chapter that talks about what the rest of the book is about, so does the Bible. The bible descriptively tells the story of how the world began. We, as humans, will never understand the impact of creation. However, I do believe there are insights to understanding God a little bit more.
Have you ever had to create something from scratch? Maybe a cake, a science project, or even a house? Think for a minute how you went about getting the materials. Most of it was probably found at a grocery store or at a home department store like Lowe's or Home Depot. But what if these stores did not exist. What if no store existed? How would you then build a house? Many of you would say,"Ok, I'll just have to cut down my own tree and forge my own nails." Well, what did you use to cut down the tree and forge the nails? I think most of you realize that whatever you chose to create it will take much longer than what you first anticipated. This is a reminder of how powerful God is. In one day, God the Creator created the sky and earth, he created light and darkness. But from what did he create these things -- a spoke word. Genesis 1:3 says, " The God said, "Let there be light," and there was light." (NCV) With only a spoken word God created everything around us. God's power, the power to create a world filled with everything it has still today as it did 6000 years ago, with only a simple soft spoken word.

Another insight or characteristic of God that I think is something we can learn from the first chapter of the Bible is how truly creative God is. Just as an artist can't not paint or a runner can't not run, God couldn't not create. He was the Creator. What amazes me the most about God's creativity is the amount of detail. Each cell of the body has a job to do. Every raindrop will eventually be used for some purpose he planned at the beginning. Whether it will be used to fill an ocean, nourish a plant, or to quench the thirst of a giraffe no yet born.
"Look to the canyons to see the Creator's splendor. Touch the flowers and see his delicacy. Listen to the thunder and hear his power. But gaze on [humanity] - the zentih- and witness all three.... and more. ( From In the Eye of the Storm by Max Lucado
